The new guideline on frozen shoulder was published in July 2022. The guideline summarizes the current scientific status of this condition.
One statement was surprising, even to me, who treats several patients with frozen shoulder every day. The guideline states: "The correct diagnosis of frozen shoulder by a non-specialist is rare. Of 80 patients referred to a specialist in a New Zealand cohort, only 19% had a correct diagnosis and correctly initiated treatment."
This clearly underscores that shoulder disorders belong in the hands of specialists.
